Beautiful Whale Outdoor Playground Structure in Barcelona, Spain

There are several Outdoor Playground project are contributed by RECREOLOGY, a company in Barcelona, Spain and the mission of which is to create open spaces where all kinds of people can enjoy together.

The Whale is the result of an elaborate plan to provide Barcelona with children's games of the highest level. All part of an initiative called "playable city" inspired by the philosophy of the famous Tonucci and the children themselves were consulted as they wanted the game to be and they chose the idea of the Whale.

The architecture firm QUERALT SUAU was in charge of the project and LAPPSET ESPAÑA was chosen by the latter to collaborate in all phases of the design and for the manufacture of the same.

The element has an extraordinary complexity since it has an interior volume of more than 200 m3 perfectly used with different types of labyrinths. Not even the whale fin is a simple ornamental element since it is attached to a pendulum that children themselves can move.

There are so many different playground structure parts in the Whale: children can go inside of the whale by climbing the ladder below the mouth or go directly from the tail. People will find projects like Turbo tube, Climbing Net structure and panel climbing rope. One thing deserve to mention is the shape of the climbing panel is little fish and when you go inside of the Whale, thousand of fishes just come into your eyes suddenly. The outside of whole structure is translucent, so children can find their parents through the belly of the whale.

When children play in this playground structure, the ability of group interaction, physical activity and brain development can be greatly improved. And it has so many pros.

Group play is equally important as solitary play. Playing with others helps children learn social roles and cultural rules, develop the appropriate cooperation skills and familiarize themselves with a shared system of symbols, including verbal and body language. Group play isn`t just kids having fun with one another-it`s teaching them about real-life relationships. When children develop and test relationships, they learn self-control and negotiation skills. They also learn independence and acceptable group activities to build on as they grow up. Group play helps children prepare for a lifetime of interacting with others.

About athletic ability, jumping, climbing, running , all of them can develop the brown of children's body with high efficiency, strong physical coordinate ability and balance.

Play helps children develop language and reasoning skills, encourages autonomous thinking and problem solving, as well as improvement in the ability to focus and control behavior. Play aids children to learn discovery and develop verbal and manipulative skills, judgment and reasoning and creativity. Play experiences teach children about cause and effect or consequences and risk. This is an important skill as children grow up and face tougher decisions in life.
